Bio

I’m Rex Barrett. Husband, father, pastor, photographer, and productivity aficionado. Collecting hobbies is my hobby.

Background

Raised on the West Coast and transplanted to small town Oklahoma going into high school. Yeah, culture shock. Moved to Dallas immediately upon graduation to get that big city feel. Graduated and interned at a church in OKC, met my wife, had some babies, never left the state, though I threatened to when I was younger.

I’ve been a pastor, a non-profit founder x 2, a professional photographer, and then looped back around to being a pastor.

I bought a church in our tiny town and have slowly been converting it into our home. What started as a six-month project is now going on two years. As I tell my friends frequently, we’re so close. Though I’ve been saying that for about a year now.

Hobbies

Seriously, collecting hobbies is my hobby. Photography is a hobby that stuck. I was the guy who said, “Digital will never succeed.” I was wrong. Current hobby stack includes a fascination with C.S. Lewis, learning in public using Obsidian publish, learning to use all kinds of tools, collecting notebooks, collecting cheap Japanese pens, collecting Casio watches, stupid web development stuff, and strength training with MacroFactor Workouts.
