Since the gospel is about the restoration of the human race in Christ, the gospel is a social gospel from the very outset. There is not even a moment when it is merely individual and private, for even Jesus appeared within Israel.
Leithart’s books constantly challenge how I think. He’s a genius at presenting his ideas. He argues that what he calls “Christianity” has led us to adopt a private, intellectual faith. This turns the church into a brand or a movement rather than the visible, sacramental, disciplined people who will inevitably clash with culture and political powers. Our faith is one that reshapes society under the lordship of Christ.
